In Ecuador according to figures from different national observatories, women spend an average of 4 times more time in unpaid work at home, 65 out of every 100 women experience or have experienced some kind of violence in their lives, in 2021 there were 197 femicides, and it is indicated that every 44 hours a woman dies as a result of a femicide, likewise until December 2020 only 2 out of 10 women had adequate employment in Ecuador, for that same year the unemployment rate for women was 6. 7% while that of men was 3.7%, in other figures we can see what; in Ecuador around 41,000 adolescents between 10 and 14 years old become mothers every year, finally for 2019 while an average salary of a man was around $345.50 that of women despite having the same education was around $292.70.
All these figures are nothing more than a crude x-ray of the reality that women live in our country on a daily basis, many of these women are single mothers who are single heads of household who are confronted daily with the harsh reality of a society with a marked gender gap, that what it does is, to confront these women daily with a number of needs to which they unwittingly drag their family, thus perpetuating cycles of poverty, violence and inequality generation after generation.
For all of the above reasons, it is necessary to create integral, sustainable and sustainable projects that allow women living in conditions of poverty and vulnerability to grow and improve in the different spheres of their lives, feeling that they have stopped being undervalued and made invisible by an unjust and inequitable society, and what is even better is that they themselves are the managers, participants and architects of their own changes, leaving the idea that the state or society should give them what they need, but rather empowering and empowering themselves in the idea that they can and should be the main agents of transformation, for themselves and for their families, which will have a huge psychosocial impact not only for them but for their families and for their community.
Thus creating the real, profound changes that society needs, of substance and form, that empower and liberate women and make them masters of themselves.
